The 2017 MNHPC Conference took place April 2-4, 2017, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington – Minneapolis South and included keynotes, breakouts and exhibits focused on end-of-life issues and services.
This year we attracted over 900 attendees who enjoyed connecting (and reconnecting!) with each other, as well as soaking up knowledge from experts on a wide variety of topics relating to the difficult conversations that accompany end-of-life and serious illness.
Pam Slocum, RN, Director of Clinical Services at Seasons Hospice says, “I truly enjoyed the conference this year! The conference – from the opening session, ‘Human Side of Healthcare’ to the closing plenary of the ‘Gift of GAB’ – was wonderful! Communication is “key” and as we know – the person giving the message may think he/she is stating “X” but the receiving end is hearing “??”.
Aside from the outstanding educational program, attendees also had the opportunity to engage with MNHPC staff and leaders at the Annual Board meeting, and practice self-care with a Tai Chi demo. A highlight of the Conference was the Exhibitor Reception on Monday evening, where attendees enjoyed tasty appetizers, sipped beverages from the cash bar, won amazing prizes, and wrote their “bucket list” items on the “Before I Die” wall.
Those in attendance on Tuesday were energized and delighted by a short Laughter Yoga session led by Sarah Routman. Later that day, the audience stood in ovation for Volunteer of the Year, Eileen Warzecha, and Veteran Volunteer of the Year, James Crawley, whose work and dedication inspired everyone who heard their stories.
Mary Hostetler, RN, BSN, MBA, MAN, Regulatory/Compliance Coordinator says she “…look(s) forward to the Annual Conference for …(the) great speakers on such a variety of topics…the opportunity to network and meet others in my field,” and that she “love(s) that volunteers are included and honored as the work we do cannot take place without them.”
Thanks to all of you who joined us, and to all those who worked to make this conference a success: supporters, exhibitors, volunteers, planning committee members, the MNHPC Board of Directors, the MNHPC Staff, and the Event Group.
Please mark your calendars for the 2018 MNHPC Annual Conference: April 8 – 10, 2018
