Minnesota Network of Hospice and Palliative Care is collaborating with Corridor Group to provide a 2 day in-person Hospice Nuts and Bolts educational presentation for hospice providers in the region.

 Hospice Nuts and Bolts offers targeted training to hospice staff including hospice managers and supervisors and all clinical staff to improve their mastery of, not just familiarity with, the essential skills of a compliant hospice organization.

 Corridor’s Hospice Nuts and Bolts is an extensive training focused on:

Approach

Hospice Nuts and Bolts©

Through instruction, group activities, case examples, discussions and pre-and post-tests, Hospice Nuts and Bolts brings the most important regulatory and best practice standards to life in a fun, informative and team building experience.  Each participant will receive a Hospice Nuts and Bolts Participant Guide and a Corridor Hospice Quickflips© (specific to their MAC).  The Quickflips© include Local Coverage Determination for each fiscal intermediary, resources for documentation of eligibility, tips for effective interdisciplinary group/team meetings and care planning and key information from the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

*Participant Guide will be provided in electronic format for download in advance of the presentation.

*Hospice Quickflips© will be provided in print format for all participants.  Any Medical Directors attending will receive the Hospice Medical Director Quickflips©.

FAQ

What will I walk away from this training with?

Participants will leave with a deeper knowledge and expertise level in all aspects of hospice and hospice regulations. In addition, attendees will be provided with a user manual along with a Corridor Quick Flip to assist with documentation to meet LCD requirements.

 

Who is this for?

A wide variety of hospice clinicians will benefit from this training including, hospice medical directors, nurses, therapists and social workers. It is also excellent for managers and leaders of hospice organizations.

 

Is this just for new staff?

No. While it is an excellent foundational experience for clinicians new to hospice it is also a thorough review for experienced staff as well. Everything from the basics to the more advanced principles are covered in this program. Everyone, no matter their level of experience or years in hospice walk away with a new appreciation and a greater level of knowledge.

 

What is the format?

This training will be offered in person for two full days. The training will not be recorded.

 

What are the learning objectives?

Upon completion of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the basics related to the Hospice Conditions of Participation
  • Define key components of the Medicare Hospice Benefit
  • Identify documentation requirements regarding: eligibility, diagnosis coding, initial & comprehensive assessment, recertification, LCD's, plan of care
  • Understand the form and function of the IDT
  • Describe the QAPI program and how to integrate it into all areas of operations
  • Identify areas of Risk and the entities that enforce compliance
