University of Wisconsin-Madison Grief Support Specialist Certificate


MNHPC is partnering with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to offer a Grief Support Specialist Certificate course, offered virtually this June.

The Grief Support Specialist Certificate sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison is a uniquely designed, practical educational program with four instructors, skilled in various dimensions of grief work, who will instruct registrants through four day-long classes. Participants will also develop a projec posting that project online as well as comment upon eight classmates’ projects. Course content centers around educating and counselit,ng people who have suffered from some major loss: loss due to death, divorce, job loss, loss of health, and the losses associated with substance abuse, loss of self-worth, etc.

This certificate program is the first of its kind in the nation at a major university. Instructors in the program, including Ted Bowman, frequent MNHPC annual conference presenter and featured speaker at the 2018 MNHPC Fall Forum, are renowned experts on grief and loss.

The program will run June 11-14 from 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM. Continuing Education credits are available.
