MNHPC's Annual Conference
The Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care (MNHPC) has a rich history of fostering community, providing education, and supporting healthcare professionals involved in hospice and palliative care. Since its inception, MNHPC has been dedicated to promoting quality of life through increased access to and support of hospice and palliative care services across Minnesota.

Foundational Years
MNHPC began as the Minnesota Hospice Organization (MHO) in 1980 when a group of visionary individuals, including two active members of the National Hospice Organization, convened to address the growing need for resources and support in hospice care. The first meeting of the MHO Board of Directors took place on October 2, 1980, setting the groundwork for what would become a pivotal organization in the state. By October 1, 1982, the first Minnesota Hospice Organizational Meeting was held, further solidifying MHO's role in the healthcare community.
In 2011, the organization underwent a significant transformation by changing its name to the Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care. This change reflected an expanded mission to include palliative care providers, partner organizations, and individuals, thus broadening its impact and outreach.
The Annual Conference
One of MNHPC's cornerstone initiatives is its annual conference, which began in 1985. This event has continually provided vital connections, education, resources, and support to those in the hospice and palliative care fields. The conference is designed for a wide array of healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, social workers, chaplains, and many others involved in serious illness and end-of-life care.
The MNHPC Annual Conference has adapted to changing times, notably being held virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure ongoing education and community engagement. Despite these challenges, the conference has remained a steadfast pillar of support, embodying the organization's commitment to advancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals.

Looking Ahead
As MNHPC continues to evolve, the annual conference remains a crucial platform for innovation and learning. The conference will always aim to enhance the expertise of healthcare professionals, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the needs of patients and families facing serious illness and end-of-life challenges.
Through these ongoing efforts, MNHPC reaffirms its dedication to improving hospice and palliative care services, fostering an inclusive community, and advocating for underrepresented groups across Minnesota.
