MNHPC Annual Conference
Call for Breakout Session Proposals

The 2027 MNHPC Annual Conference will be held April 29–30, 2027, at the Radisson Blu Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. This premier educational event brings together 400–500 hospice and palliative care professionals from across the state, representing every discipline involved in serious illness and end-of-life care. Attendees include hospice aides, nurses, physicians and advanced practice providers, social workers, chaplains, bereavement professionals, volunteers, administrators, executives, quality leaders, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Our goal is to provide high-quality, practical education that equips attendees with new knowledge, skills, and ideas they can immediately apply in their work. We are seeking engaging presentations that are evidence-informed, relevant, and interactive. Sessions should encourage participant involvement through discussion, case studies, audience engagement, or other interactive learning strategies in addition to traditional presentation.

Priority Topic Areas 

MNHPC is committed to providing education that is timely, practical, interdisciplinary, and applicable to organizations of every size—from independent rural providers to large health systems. We especially encourage proposals that address current challenges, emerging opportunities, and innovative practices that strengthen hospice and palliative care throughout Minnesota.

While proposals on any hospice or palliative care topic are welcome, MNHPC is particularly interested in presentations that address one or more of the following priority areas: 

• Pediatric hospice and palliative care 

• Palliative care across the continuum 

• Pain and symptom management 

• Compliance, reimbursement, and billing best practices 

• Rural healthcare delivery and access to care 

• Regulatory updates and emerging policy changes 

• Workforce development, recruitment, retention, and staff well-being 

• Organizational growth, innovation, and sustainability strategies 

 

We also encourage submissions that explore interdisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement, communication, ethics, leadership, diversity and inclusion, caregiver support, volunteer engagement, and innovative models of care. 

 

Session Information 

• Session length: 60–75 minutes 

• Presentations should balance educational content with interactive learning opportunities. 

• Sessions should include practical strategies, case examples, or audience engagement to promote active learning. 

• All presentations must be educational in nature. Promotional, marketing, or sales-focused presentations will not be accepted. 

• All accepted presentations will be delivered using an MNHPC-branded PowerPoint template, which will be provided to speakers in advance. 

 

Proposal Review Process 

Speaker proposals are reviewed by MNHPC staff in partnership with the Education & Training Committee. Reviewers evaluate proposals based on: 

• Relevance to hospice and palliative care professionals 

• Educational value and practical application 

• Quality and clarity of the proposed learning objectives 

• Level of audience engagement and interactive learning 

• Speaker expertise and experience 

• Overall balance and diversity of the conference program 

 

To encourage a diverse faculty and a broad range of perspectives: 

• A maximum of two (2) proposals will be accepted by any individual speaker. 

• A maximum of two (2) speakers may present during any session. 

 

Speaker Support & Registration 

MNHPC is grateful for the generosity of our volunteer faculty, whose expertise makes this conference possible. 

Please note: 

• There is no honorarium or travel reimbursement for conference speakers. 

• Speakers may attend and present during their scheduled session(s) at no cost. 

• If speakers wish to participate in additional conference sessions or activities beyond their own presentation, MNHPC will provide one complimentary day of conference registration. This complimentary registration is limited to one conference day, even if the speaker is presenting on both days of the conference.

Important Dates 

• ​Speaker Proposal Deadline: October 31 2026 

• Proposal Review  November: 2026 

• Notification of Proposal Status:  No later than December 1st 2026  

 

Applicants will be notified whether their proposal has been accepted, waitlisted, or declined.
