We are thrilled to nominate Susan Adler, a remarkable hospice volunteer with North Memorial Hospice. For more than 22 years, Susan has demonstrated unwavering dedication, supporting countless hospice patients and their families with compassion and grace. In every interaction, Susan places the patient at the center of her care, approaching each situation without judgment and with deep respect for the individual and their loved ones. Susan has an extraordinary ability to put both patients and families at ease during an often difficult and emotional time. She sets aside her own expectations and focuses entirely on what the patient needs in the moment—whether that is a comforting presence, a listening ear, sharing memories, or quietly sitting during life’s final moments. Her calm demeanor and genuine empathy bring comfort when it is needed most. One memorable example of Susan’s dedication is her willingness to provide vigil support, staying with patients during their final hours so no one is alone. Beyond her work with patients, Susan generously mentors and supports fellow volunteers, offering guidance, encouragement, and a steady example of compassionate service. Susan is truly one of a kind, and her impact on patients, families, and volunteers is lasting and profound.
